Locsense was founded in 2016 by Susan Roelofs. Susan studied Applied Physics followed by a PhD in the Lab on a Chip group. Surrounded by biologists and engineers she recognized the need for sensing equipment for cell cultures. First steps were made possible through successful applications by Susan for the Marina van Damme prize, ERC-PoC and STW funding.
